While on safari in South Africa, we waited close to an hour to witness one of nature’s great predators on high alert. This alpha male hid deep in the bush, surveying the territory before the rest of the pride emerged. Though we kept our distance, he made it clear that he was aware of our presence. His roars rippled through the dense woods sending nearby animals running.
